Featured Project: The Shared S(h)elf

Isha Patel and Pavithra Sriram, urban designers, placemaking strategists, and proud alumni of Pratt Institute’s class of 2018, are making significant strides in transforming urban spaces in the USA and India. Their award-winning project, The Shared S(h)elf Project, uses art therapy and creative placemaking to address urban loneliness, encouraging community interaction through activties like yarn bombing, origami stations, storytelling, and a unique gift-sharing box. 

This 8x8’ installation is constructed entirely without tools or glue, using precision CNC cutting and joinery for easy assembly and disassembly. Awarded the People’s Choice at the Creating Connections Competition in Dallas, The Shared S(h)elf is a testament to how thoughtful design can turn public areas into active, engaging community hubs.
