March 8 is International Women’s Day. Prepare yourself for lots of Rah Rah! Girl Boss! YAS Queen! content from companies that don’t provide parental leave and have never elevated a woman to CEO. I’m all for celebration, but I am begging you to remember that IWD is about more than cheering on the women in your life. In the United States, let’s acknowledge that: So, yes, let’s highlight the incredible women in our lives and celebrate their success. And let’s continue to fight for equal rights, equal pay, and bodily autonomy. If you’re a placemaker who works in the heritage resource field, please take the anonymous cultural heritage worker salary survey created by Sarah Marsom. The data creates an open source resource that has been used in presentations, to advocate for raises, to help determine consultant rates, and more.
